The Joy of Motherhood - A program about the life-changing experience of motherhood.

About the Program: Giving birth is only the beginning of birthing your full self as a woman. Saskia provides tools and support that help you to step into your dreams and balance motherhood and work. Instead of feeling that your life is a “juggling act,” you learn how motherhood can lead to greater expression of your Self.

I was touched by Saskia’s sweetness, impressed by her professional background, and awed by her role of mother to five children. She immediately became a mentor to me. Saskia took me on a journey of release and empowerment. With her guidance I was able to release limiting thoughts and behavior that no longer served me. The end result has been an enormous sense of freedom to just be in the moment. My voice is lighter, my walk is lighter, and my heart is lighter. I feel profound joy in moments that I hardly noticed before. More than anything, I have a strong can-do attitude and am becoming clearer about my life vision every day.”

We all have dreams. Dreams of what we want, who we want to be, and where we want to go in life. However there is an alarming rate of people that do not go after their dreams. For whatever reason something gets in the way - whether it is the day to day challenges of just living life or even our own self-doubt there are always obstacles that stand between us and our dreams. The key is what do we do when we are faced with that big brick wall, do we hurdled over it, walk around it or let it stop us from that dream on the other side.

This week on Mom’s Coffee Break we are talking about how we can make our dreams a reality and what usually stops us from living the life that we want. Joining us is Transformational Life Coach and Author of A Suitcase Full of Faith, Saskia Roell.

At any given moment, no matter where we look, our weight seems to be a huge issue with the public at large. On television, the internet, magazines, newspapers, or just general conversations with others we all seem to be bombarded with people criticizing the way we look, including how we view ourselves. We are all told we are to fat, to skinny, to unhealthy, to muscular. We are told that in order to lose weight and be healthy we have to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on exercise equipment, special foods, supplements, clothing, and diet pills. The weight loss industry is a billion dollar industry. How many of us can afford that now? I know I can’t. I advocate people doing whatever they can to become or stay healthy, but we do not have to spend alot of money to get there. We do not have to resort to taking pills, buying obnoxiously priced exercise equipment and memberships, or spending hundreds of dollars on specialty foods. We can get or stay healthy for the same amount of money that we are spending on an unhealthy lifestyle, but that is also a great opportunity to save money as well.

To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you take in. You have to exercise to burn calories. Walking around your neighborhood is free. Renting exercise videos from the library is free or almost free (.25 - .50 cents per rental). Walking up and down your stairs, if you have them, is free; maybe a little annoying for others in your house to hear you pounding up and down the stairs but it is all in the name of health. Playing outside with the dog or the kids, or both, is free. Park further away when you go somewhere, like a store. The walk is good for you. If you enjoy dancing, kick everyone out of the house and crank up the music!

Food is the other big area we have to watch when changing our lifestyles to become healthy. It really is not that hard to implement a healthy diet. Eat less salt, sugar, and fat. Eat more fruits, vegetables and lean meats. If you do not know how to healthier foods, check out some cookbooks at the library or search the internet for healthy recipes. This is what I do when I want to try a new food and am unsure how to cook it, or just want to find a new recipe for something we have not had yet. Do not deprive yourself. If you crave something sweet or salty, by all means have a treat, but limit your portions to what is recommended on the package.

I hope these simple tips help you. Losing weight is a difficult struggle that most people face at some point, including myself. I have found it easier, and less stressful, to keep things as simple as possible in all aspects of life.
