Did you know that Saturday September 22nd is American Business Women’s Day?

 

For those that are not familiar with ABW Day here is the background:

 

The first American Business Women’s Day (ABW Day) was celebrated in 1982.  It is a national day for American to recognize the achievements of not only ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) members but also the millions of employed women in the U. S. It’s observed on September 22, the anniversary of ABWA’s founding.

 

In 1983 and 1986, joint congressional resolutions passed designating a national observance of September 22 as American Business Women’s Day.  Following each resolution, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation.

 

How can we let this day pass without doing something?

 

Answer: WE CAN’T!!!

 

In celebration of American Business Women’s Day, we want to invite every woman in business to:  American Business Women’s Day Cheer and Share

 

When: Saturday September 22nd (national observance of ABW Day)

Finding a Harmonious Arrangement September 14, 2007

I wanted to extend the topic of balance to this weeks topic. Balance is on the mind and lips of everyone…how to find it…how to make it work…how to maintain it. It is the topic of much discussion every where I turn.

What exactly is balance?

It is hard to define balance in any detail, because the act of balancing is to find what works for you and your family. What is balance for one would not necessarily work for someone else.

One definition from dictionary.com defines balance as “a harmonious arrangement or relation of parts or elements within a whole (as in a design)”.

It is that “harmonious arrangement” that lets us know if we are truely living a life of balance. But, it is not always easy to arrive at that harmonious place in our lives.

Big lessons come from the smallest of creatures September 7, 2007

Yesterday afternoon as I was leaving to run to the store, when I opened the back door I notices a cracker that Logan had dropped was swarming with tiny ants. The cracker was about the same size as a goldfish cracker and it was covered, I could hardly tell was it was at first until I more closely inspected it.

I have to admit that I was fascinated. Watching all those ants working like a well oiled machine. Because there were literately over a hundred tiny ants swarmed around the cracker after I called my husband and son down to watch, I decide that I would move the cracker outside on near the door, and I even threw in a second cracker to compensate the move.

After the great ant relocation I ran to the store and came back home. I was gone for about 15 minutes and by the time that I got back the ants had successfully moved and now where swarming both crackers.

It made me think of how amazing the ant really is, and how many lessons we can learn from this tiny fellow creature.

Their determination is awe-inspiring, here are one of the smallest creatures on this planet and yet they are determined to one step at a time to fulfill their job. They by far are the best example of what can be accomplished through teamwork, and there organization is beyond compare.

Think about this:

What could you accomplish in your life if you had the teamwork of your family?

How could you benefit from better organization?

Where could your determination take you?

What could you gain from being more ant-like?
