Did curiosity really kill the cat? July 16, 2007
Posted by Tonya in : Lessons from a child , 1 comment so farI watch Logan embrace everything new with gusto. Like most two-year-olds, he is curious. He wants to know every noise, how every toy works; he dives into every new experience headfirst.
His newest fascination is with bugs…all kinds of “buggies”, he wants to know everything. “Where is buggie’s home, Momma?” he wants to know if there are “momma buggies and daddy buggies?”, he gets so excited when he sees one; he will watch it crawl not taking his eyes off it for a minute, until one of us scoops it up and puts it outside.
I admire his healthy curiosity.
In our lives we settled in the status quo, becoming complacent with our lives. We stop asking questions and stop searching for the answers. We stop being curious.
When was the last time you searched out the answer to the questions in your life?
We just take what comes our way at face value instead of burrowing deeper. There are so many answers that we could find within ourselves that could prove helpful in our lives.
Curiosity is the art of wanting to know.
Who am I?
Why do I let my inner critic stop me?
What am I holding on to that I need to release?
Take time to find the answers, especially the ones that point inward. Let your curiosity lead you to learning new something new about yourself. When we stifle our curiosity, we deny ourselves growth.

The 3 R’s Challenge July 7, 2007
Posted by Tonya in : Events and Invitations, From Coach Tonya , 9commentsGreetings all!!
We had a fantastic Mom’s Coffee Break on Friday!! I offered up a challenge to those in attendance and would like to expand it to include anyone that wants to participate.
Here it is:
For the next week make a choice to practice the 3 R’s (Rest, Renew, and Release - descriptions below) add a comment here to let us know you are participating. Then come back and let us know how its going.
Everyday for the next week (7 days) :
Get plenty of rest: I challenge you all to get enough sleep, set a bedtime and stick with it!
Allow yourself to renew: Spend time doing something for yourself! Play with your kids, meditate…whatever helps you renew yourself…do it!
Release those things that are not working towards the betterment of your life: Now, is the time to release old thoughts, actions, habits, etc…that do not add positively to your life. Use “Letting Go” exercise (see below) to help you get rid of what is not working for you.
Letting Go exercise: Take some time in either meditation or reflection to figure out what you need to release. On a piece of paper at the top write RELEASE and put what you need to release. On the back at the top write ALLOW, and put what you want to allow in your life instead.
For example, if you are releasing negative thoughts, then you would be allowing, positive thoughts. If you are releasing hurt feelings, then you could put that you allow healing, and so on.
When you are done, burn the paper (in a fire proof container) and visualize what you are releasing, floating away with the smoke. Then visualize what you are allowing as glowing light entering you body.
You may repeat this as many times as you come across more things that you want/need to release.
For those that are participating in the 3 R’s Challenge I will be sending you a link to download for free Self-Nurturing for the Nurturer, a great e-Book that reminds us that we need to take care of ourselves.
The 3 R’s at Mom’s Coffee Break, Friday July 6th! July 5, 2007
Posted by Tonya in : Events and Invitations , add a commentNo, it is not the three R’s that you learned in school…I am talking about the three R’s that are vital to balance and a healthy sense of self: Rest, Renew, and Release.
Face it, there is always an unending list of things that need to be done…you need to have enough energy to work on that list. Getting enough rest, taking time to renew yourself, and releasing things that are not working for you, can make a huge impact on how you feel about yourself and the world around you.
Join us 8am PST / 9am MNT / 10am CST / 11am EST as we talk about the importance of these 3 R’s and how by using them you can bring more into your life to promote balance and success in all areas of your life.
If you would like a reminder sent to you click here
If you can’t make it this Friday, but you would like to keep informed of upcoming Mom’s Coffee Break, sign up for our reminders list.
